Just a few minutes from the colonnaded spa promenade in Poděbrady, an interior came into being whose primary aim was not simply to create an aesthetically polished flat, but above all a space with an atmosphere of calm, lightness, and everyday well-being. A place where, upon returning home, one automatically slows down, breathes, and leaves the noise of the outside world behind the door.
The owner wanted an interior that would be harmonious, airy, and distinctive all at once — bridging contemporary elegance with a sense of femininity and a natural functionality suited both to daily life and to creative work. From the very earliest designs, the concept emerged from a sensitive approach to materials, light, and the atmosphere of the space. The essence of Poděbrady itself — a town of calm, spa-town elegance, and a particular inner balance — became the source of inspiration.
As the apartment's layout of three rooms plus a kitchen was not especially generous in terms of square footage, it was important to make thoughtful use of every detail so that the interior would always feel open and light. During the realisation, certain aspects of the layout were adjusted — extending the kitchen run, optimising storage, and working with cleaner lines — so that the resulting space would feel both ergonomically and visually calmer.
Running through the entire apartment is a combination of gently whitened oak, light grey tones, black accents, and soft pastel details. A stand-out feature is the French chevron parquet, which lends the interior a timeless elegance and a natural rhythm. The atmosphere is further completed by a combination of trowelled finishes, velvet textiles, smoked glass, subtle metallic details, and thoughtfully integrated greenery.
Light plays an important role here too — not merely functionally, but as a component of the overall mood of the interior. Backlit niches, soft LED lines, and the use of warmer illumination help create a feeling of cosiness and quiet comfort that carries through the entire apartment.
One of the most striking moments of the project is the minimalist kitchen with a Super White Quartzite stone worktop imported from Italy, designed to read as clean and unobtrusive in relation to the living space. The bathroom, by contrast, combines a gently industrial character with feminine elegance — expressed through a powder-pink basin and bespoke black metal details, among other things.
The result is an interior that does not rely on showiness, but on harmony, detail, and an atmosphere one often perceives almost subconsciously. A space that retains its full functionality whilst offering something more — the genuine possibility of slowing down and feeling at ease.
